How To Remove Glitter Nail Polish

We've all worn it & we've all had a hard time removing it from our nails. No matter what you use, cotton balls or squares, it's still a struggle and a mess. The cotton tears and you end up with glitter polish all over your fingers and it doesn't always come all off. 

I will admit, I wish this idea was mine but it wasn't. I saw it on a youtube video and I was just so blown away by it when I tried it and it worked.

Materials needed:
Nail Polish remover
Cotton balls/squares
Foil

Steps:
1. If you're using cottons squares cut it in half. 

2. Cut up some squares of foil. These will be wrapped around your finger. They will hold the cotton over your nail. The polish remover soaks through the glitter polish. 

3. Grab your cotton and pour some polish remover on it. 

4. Place cotton over nail.

5. Grab foil square and wrap it around your finger. Fold any excess over your finger.

6. Do this to all nails, leave on for about 2 minutes. 

7. Unwrap foil and wipe the cotton off your nail. 

Keep in mind, there might be some polish on the edge of your nail, near your cuticles. Just grab a clean cotton pour some polish remover and clean it up. It will be very fast and easy since it was soaking in polish remover for 2 minutes.

The first picture is of my entire right hand, each finger soaking.

The second picture is showing the cotton with the glitter nail polish 99.9% off of my nail. You can see there is some glitter polish left over around the edges. I took a clean cotton with polish remover and cleaned it up with 1 swipe.

I know, it looks ridiculous. LOL

Glitter polish is virtually gone. 1 swipe with a clean cotton soaked with polish remover cleaned up the edges.

Q&A WITH MISS PIGGY

Tell us about what it was like collaborating with M·A·C on a collection that captures your iconic beauty look.

Oh I adore collaboration—especially when everyone is there to listen to what I have to say and do exactly what I tell them to. And those fabulously talented people at M·A·C did just that. They were more than willing to listen, learn and be inspired by moi, so they could get the pink eye shadow just right, the flutter of the lashes just perfect, the texture of the eye liner just so. Best of all, they did all the work while I did all the talking! Très fantastique!

What was it like working with James Gager, Senior Vice President and Creative Director, and Jennifer Balbier, Senior Vice President for Global Product Development? 

 

Ah yes, James and Jennifer…..Uh, what were those names again? Gager and Balbier? Sorry, not ringing a bell. But if I met them and they were important, I love them and can’t wait to see them again. You see, Jimmy and Jennie as I called them, seemed to understand moi’s very soul. And best of all, they understood moi’s desire to make the collection worthy of comparison with other iconic M·A·C “diva” collections (Lady Gaga and Cyndi Lauper’s Viva Glam campaigns and Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday) while inevitably surpassing all of them.

Tell us about your typical beauty routine when you’re on set. Does it differ from your every day beauty routine?

At home and on the set, my beauty routine is the same. I sit in a chair while a squadron of stylists, manicurists, cosmetologists, hairologists and so forth hover around and make magic. Then, I open my eyes, look in the mirror and voila…perfection! The advantage of doing this on set is that someone else pays for it. How would you describe your style in your upcoming film, “The Muppets”? I play an editor at Vogue Paris, so naturally I had to wear the most au courant couture and meet all the top designers in the world. (Naturally, we hit it off like gangbusters. Trust moi, you haven’t partied til you’ve ridden in a cab down the Champs-Élysées singing show tunes with a passel of Parisian designers!) So, I would have to say that moi inspired designers who, in turn, designed clothes that captured the essense of moi. It’s a win-win all the around, n’est ce-pas?

Any style advice for your fans? Can anyone wear the products from the Miss Piggy inspired M·A·C collection?

You can’t be moi, but this is the next best thing. This collection is perfect for any skin tone, goes with any wardrobe choices…and will help vous find your personal style. To moi, style is all about having fun! You are you! Go for it! Get glam! Have fun! Laugh in the face of critics! Scoff at cynics! Chortle in front of rude people! Remember, even though certain collections may feature some permanent items such as the last lip kit I mentioned in this blog where every lip product is in the permanent line, it is the ball decoration it comes in and the white cap as opposed to the black cap that makes it Limited Edition. Keep in mind as well that they may be much smaller than the regular size. I really wish MAC wouldn't feature so many permanent products in Limited Edition packaging. It's honestly not worth the price hike.

Bridal Eye Makeup

Remember this: Big, sparkling eyes will always get attention! Wedding day makeup is the most important and there's no room for error. Follow these simple Do's & Dont's for your big day and it won't be just your dress getting all the attention.

DO:

• Think seriously about hiring a makeup artist; everyday makeup is different from your wedding day needs. If you don't know where to find a makeup artist search online, ask friends & family or go to a department store makeup counter or Sephora, Ulta and ask around. Some of the makeup artists that work there do freelance work.
• Take time to try a few different makeup artists and choose one who understands your personal tastes.
• Use eye drops if your eyes look red or tired on the day of (stick with a brand you've used before to avoid unwelcome surprises).
• Get as much sleep as possible the night before the big day.
• Apply concealer to banish dark circles under your eyes.
• Use matte eye shadows. Using matte eye shadows won't reflect light or look shiny, especially in pictures.
• If you have light skin, use an off-white matte shadow along your brow bone, or a peach matte eye shadow if you have dark skin, this will illuminate your eyes even more.
• Blend well, especially at the corners of your eyes. Cameras pick up every visible makeup line.
• Define your brows with a pencil or powder that matches your hair color.
• Wear 2-3 layers of mascara
• Curl your lashes before and after applying your first coat of mascara.
• Remember to use a waterproof mascara, you don't want black tears running down your face.
• Always use a new mascara on your wedding day, if it's one you've never used before, test it out for a few days before your wedding.

DON'T:

• Wear too much eye makeup: you'll look like a drag queen.
• Unless you always wear colored contacts, don't change your eye color for the big day. You run the risk of allergies making your eyes tear up more with the contacts or just not being comfortable with the contacts at all.
• Pass on the super cute, trendy silver eye shadow, ten years from now you'll hate how it looked.
• Never wear a concealer that is too light for your skin tone, unless of course, you want to look like a deer caught in headlights.
• Pass on any eye products that you've never tried before. This goes for face, body & hair products as well.
• Wearing dark colors on your eyes will look sexy in person, but in the pictures, you'll like you were punched.
• Remember to pass on frosted, shiny or sparkly eye shadows, not only will it reflect light from the camera flashes, even with eye shadow primer it easily creases.
• Don't forget to tweeze/wax your eyebrows, but don't do it at the last minute. Do it at least 2 days before your wedding.
• Don't wear false lashes if you're not completely comfortable wearing them or worried about them falling off.

You can easily skip worrying about all these Do's & Don'ts by finding a good makeup artist and having them on hand all day long for touch ups here and there.
