Tokyo Milk!!! LOVE IT!!!

Back in December I was doing some much needed retail therapy when I came across a little stand in a corner. Barely noticeable, would have missed it too, if I hadn't seen an image of Marie Antoinette on a little cute box. I walk over and see that they're little lip balm. With names like Let Them Eat Cake, Cherry Bomb, and Opera Mint you become very curious about the little containers. They smelled amazing and I wanted to buy them all, but thought I would try out just one. After coming across so many failed lip balms I didn't want to end up buying every scent/flavor and end up not liking them.
This was not the case with this lip balm. I bought Cherry Bomb and I absolutely loved it. It was my go to lip balm for the cold bitter winter air. I have always had the ugliest, driest, chapped lips every winter. However, this winter my lips have been the smoothest that they've ever been. Aside from moisturizing your lips beyond belief, the lip balm lasts on your lips much longer than others. I can not say enough good things about this brand. I recently went to their website and discovered that they have a wide variety of products, perfumes, lipstick, soaps, pocket mirrors, stationary and hand/body cream.
After telling about 15 of my friends and family about this lip balm, they all went out and bought it and have all tossed out their other lip balms and use only Tokyo Milk!!
Best Lip Balm Ever!!! A+

M.A.C False Lashes vs Maybelline Falsies

OMG
Can you believe it...I'm finally doing this review.

So first off you'll notice that the Maybelline Falsies mascara comes in like a fuchsia color packaging. Unlike the commercials, the wand isn't pink. It is shorter, but thicker then the M.A.C packaging.

Then we have the M.A.C False Lashes mascara. It is a much longer tube, as well as thinner.

Let's take a closer look...

Here we have the Maybelline Falsies. You'll notice that the wand is curved. When applying the mascara, you use the curved side facing your eyelashes. The bristles are shorter on the curved side, but believe it or not, it does make a difference. When I first used this mascara, I was in love. I tossed my Benefit BADgal Lash Mascara & used only the Falsies. I have already gone through 3 tubes of this mascara. It is a wonderful product & does what it promises to do. Your lashes do get longer & fuller. It dries very quickly & I haven't noticed excessive flaking.  Any flaking that occurs is very minimal. What I have noticed about this mascara though is that it clumps.  A trick that I do to break apart some of the clumping...just you're typical sewing needle. Very carefully separate the lashes.
Be very careful & try this at your own risk. I will not be held responsible if you poke your eye.

So as you can see there is a remarkable difference in length. I have very short eyelashes. But you can also notice clumping. In the second photo you can tell I am not wearing any mascara at all. My eyelashes are almost unnoticeable.

The clumping issue is common with this mascara. The trick is to apply coats before they dry. So say you like to apply 2 coats, do so before moving on to the other eye.

Overall I give this mascara a B-

M.A.C False Lashes
It took M.A.C some time to come out with their own Lash extending mascara comparable to Maybelline Falsies, but they did. This mascara came out with the M.A.C & Marcel Wanders Collection. It is a drier formula than the Maybelline Falsies, but it's a must have. There is no flaking & no clumping. Unlike the Maybelline Falsies brush wand, the M.A.C brush isn't curved. This mascara is by far an amazing one all on it's own. It adds volume, extends & adds more curl to your lashes. It's pricier than the Maybelline Falsies, but it's well worth it.

As you can see there is no clumping. Lashes are long, full & separated.

closeup of length

What about the bottom lashes?
It even adds length & fullnes to those short pesky lashes.

Maybelline Falsies Mascara runs you about $5 at Walmart & Target. I'm not sure if there is a difference in price in different states/cities. To be on the safe side, between $5 - $10. I have heard that is costs $7.99 in some areas.

M.A.C False Lashes runs you $18. Quite a difference in price, but you are also paying for the quality & not just the name.

Which mascara do I use now on a daily basis? M.A.C False Lashes. I love the fact that my lashes do look longer & fuller without the clumping & flaking.

Disclaimer:
This review is my HONEST OPINION of these 2 products. I was not paid by either company to do a review/comparison on their products. Photographs are mine, I took them myself.

So now, tell me...which mascara are you willing to try?

Till Next Time...

M.A.C Wonder Woman Collection Spring 2011

I am kind of excited about this line. I love Wonder Woman, but so far I'm not too crazy about the colors. I know for sure I will be getting 3 of the 4 pigments & maybe one of the eyeshadow palettes. Other than that, I don't know. For a sneak peak at the line, you can go to Temptalia.com.
She has the whole line pictured as well as a list of the products with their prices.

Let me know if you're excited about this line, if so, what do you plan on buying?

Till next time...

Beauty Tips of the Day

I'm back...I needed a few days off after losing my cat to Anemia. No, I didn't starve her. Her previous owners neglected her and abandoned her when they moved away.

~The best time to pluck your eyebrows is right after your shower. The heat helps loosen the hair follicles which makes it easier & less painful.

~The best wash for your face when you have pimples is an oil-free & fragrance-free cleaner that is also pH balanced.

~Every girl wants healthy nails, eat a diet that consists of 50% fruits & raw veggies & drink plenty of water every day.

~Wish your eyelash curler curled your lashes a lil more? Well they can. Use your blow dryer to heat up your eyelash curler. Don't get it too hot other wise it'll burn your eyelid.

~Vitamin A & Calcium deficiency can cause nail dryness & brittleness.

~Want your hair to grow a lil faster? Massage your scalp! Massaging helps improve circulation which promotes hair growth.
~Want your lips to look pouty & sexy? Of course you do. Dab some shiny gloss like M.A.C Lipglass, in the center of your top lip.

~Did you know that Citrus fruits, like Oranges & Grapefruit help hold your skin together by forming collagen? Well, now you know. So try eating a citrus fruit everyday.

I hope you enjoyed tofay's Beauty Tips
Tomorrow I will be posting the Mascara post.

Beauty Tips of the Day

Today is Friday & I thought I would post some beauty tips that every girl should know.

~ If you pluck your eyebrows, do it before your bedtime. This way, any redness or swelling that you may have will go away overnight.

~ The best eyeshadow colors for green or hazel eyes are...brown, apricot, purple, plum, deep khaki & forest green. These colors will enhance your eye color and really make your eyes POP!!!
~ If your hair is feeling weak or brittle or you notice a little more fall out than normal, eat more protein. Fish, meat, milk & cheese are ideal when it comes to healthier hair.

~ Did you know that drinking water is good for your nails? Well it is. If your nails are thin, weak and break easily, maybe you're not drinking enough water.

~ Are your eyes puffy? Do you eat a lot of salty foods? If so, then you may want to cut back on the chips. Salty foods cause fluid retention & eye puffiness.

~ Another tip for puffy eyes...when you're getting in bed, slightly elevate your head while sleeping. This will prevent extra fluid from settling around your eyes & making them puffy.

Now I know I have promised a review of M.A.C False Lashes & Maybelline Falsies Mascara. I haven't gotten around to doing this just yet. The past couple of days have been busy & hectic and I end up forgetting to apply mascara. :( I promise to have this review up by next week.

Till next time...

Review of the Day:

Phytonectar Ultra Nourishing Shampoo
I have a tendency to develop dry, flaky scalp a few times a year. Although this shampoo is for dry, brittle hair, it works really well to nourish my scalp. With this shampoo you don't need to use a conditioner. It leaves your hair feeling soft & shiny. It smells like citrus...oranges & lemons, but it's not overpowering so once your hair is dry, the scent isn't as strong as when it's wet. If you have dry, brittle, frizzy hair or a dry scalp, I highly recommend this shampoo, I am positive you will love it.
This shampoo has Orange blossom extract which nourishes & softens. It also has St. John's Wort which protects your hair from external factors & it also contains soybean to restructure your hair fibers.

I got into this shampoo when I received a small sample from Sephora with an order that I had placed. I tried it out and with just one shampooing, I was hooked! It comes in a metal canister. It doesn't rust, so there is no risk of leaving it in your shower. The description says that all you need is a quarter size, but even that is way too much. I use about a nickel size amount, then again I do have shorter hair, but my hair is thick and it's still more than enough shampoo.

You can purchase this product at ULTA & Sephora. I will include the links below. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.
